The Nursing and Health Care Administrator track of the MSN program at the University of Mississippi School of Nursing prepares nurses to lead at all levels in health care. Robert C. Weathersby is an excellent example of a nurse leading at the executive level. Weathersby, a May 2022 graduate of the program, was named Chief Operating Officer at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (SMRMC) in McComb, Miss.

SWRMC is part of Southwest Health which operates a 160-bed hospital and 15 clinics. Weathersby has over 18 years of nursing experience. He previously served in leadership roles at St. Dominic Medical Center including director of community impact, director of clinical outreach, and director of operations.

As a student in the MSN program, Weathersby received the Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) Health Systems Executive Award in spring of 2022 at the annual SON Honors Day ceremony. This award is presented annually by MHA to the student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and creativity in developing the nurse executive role in health delivery systems.

Congratulations to Robert on his new role. He is a shining start in nurse leadership in Mississippi.
